Everyone looking to build a website might have heard about SEO- the mysterious Search Engine Optimization. This is a never-ending process that consists of multiple steps and there are always enhancements that can be done to improve website visibility in the search engines.

If you have ever heard about the SEO you might have also heard that one of the basics of successful SEO is the Keyword analysis and that’s exactly what I’m going to speak about today.

Let’s start from the very beginning. The keywords are the words that web surfers use in the search engines to look for the product/service/information needed. This is the “WordPress beginners guide” that you type when you’re looking for the info how and where to start with WordPress and “website design studio” when you’re looking for a company to create a website for you.

1. Define the keywords that people use to find your business.

This step is most important and probably the easiest one and you can complete it in 3 simple steps without any additional software or paid programs offered on the market.

1. Ask your friends and relatives what words and phrases they associate with your business and put them on list.

2. Go to Google and type the keywords and key phrases into the browser and Google will also show you the related searches performed by other people. To make things even easier, you can switch from the Standard view to Related searches view. Just type your keyword to the Google search bar and on the left of the search results page click on the panel “Show search tools” and scroll to the bottom until you see it, and here’s how it looks.

3. Use Google Wonder Wheel- that’s an adorable tool that I love so much. The wonder Wheel is another variation of the Related searches but in a more convenient way and is located right below Related searches view in the left panel. The wonder wheel shows you all related searches and their popularity. You can also click on the related search circle and go even deeper into the search keywords. Put as many related keywords on the list as you can but make sure they are really related to your business, service or product.

2. Find out how many people are actually using the keywords you have selected.

The cool tool you can use here is Google Keywords Suggestion tool. It’s a part of Google Adwords (and is used to find nice keywords for your google ands) but you can use it separately to identify the popularity of the chosen keywords and key phrases. Take a minute to register with Google Adwords and you are ready to use the tool.

Type in your key phrase and Google Keywords Tool will show you the list of related searches (compare it with your list and see if you’re missing something) and the number of Monthly searches for according keyword.

At this stage you can make an excel table with your keywords in the first column and the number of monthly searches in the second one. Now sort your keywords putting the most popular ones on top and less popular ones closer to the bottom.

Delete the keywords that have less that 1000 searches a month except if you offer something really unique and that’s the top number of search engines visitors looking for it.

3. Define your competition and make sure the keywords you have chosen are relevant.

Make yourself a cup off coffee or tee as we’re starting on a pretty boring thing. Now that you have all the possible keywords in your list, we have to find out their relevance and competition.

Let me explain you what I mean for the term “relevance”. Let’s say you produce a software allowing photographers to create cool photography websites easily. One of the great keywords that you might think of is a “photo website” however it is not. If you go to Google and type “photo website” into the search field you will see that the search returned you a list of websites offering stock photography and thus this is not the keyword you should base your website optimization strategy on.

Now back to the competition. This is not really the number of companies offering the same services that you do but rather the number of indexed pages in Google containing your keyword and which you actually have to beat. So type your keyword into the Google search bar, make sure it’s relevant and put the number of indexed pages for the according keyword into your table next to the number of monthly searches.

4. Finding the best keywords

By now you should have a list from about 50 keywords and keywords phrases in the descending order with the appropriate number of monthly searches and competition. If you have a website with the number of pages over 20 you can use all of them, but it you have a simple 5-10 pages website you’ll have to choose the best of the keywords.

The keyword “bestestness” is defined by the ration between relevance, popularity and competition. The keyword which is most close to your business, has the largest number of searches and the smallest competition is the best.

There are lots of coefficients offered by different experts, but if you are not making the keywords analysis every other day you are most likely to forget how to calculate it. So, to keep things simple, you can divide the number of monthly searches to the number of pages indexed for this keyword and multiply by 1000 for example. You’ll get figures like 0,1-0,3, less than 0,1 and much less than 0,01. Small figures mean that there is either a small number of searches for the given keywords of the competition is really high.

You can exclude these keywords, however do check each one individually. If you have the best product in some area, you can easily overcome all the competition and show up in the search engine results for the given keyword.

At the end and having made the ratio analysis you should have around 10 very cool keywords, 10 just cool keywords and around 5-10 nice keywords that also might be useful.

5. Breaking keywords into pages.

Now we’re going to the most complex point. You can’t use all your keywords on just one page. Every page has to be optimized for no more than 2-3 keywords/keyword phrases and of course, they should be 100% relevant to the content of the page.

Choose the best 3 keywords for the home page and spread the rest on the other pages. Now add a few nice keywords for every page. Choose one or two keywords that you can use throughout the pages in the text organically.

Put it all in a spreadsheet. Now you have the list of keywords to use on every page of your website to ensure best visibility for the given keywords in the search engine results. Sorry for the blurred screen but I have to keep my own keyword research results private.

The next step is actually creating the keyword optimized content for the website pages. This is the separate science and I’m going to speak about it in my next post. Stay tuned, make the keywords analysis and check back with us soon!

When they do arrive home, they find it tricky to unwind and can often find themselves starting up the work pc and doing more Work From Home. Work laptops seem to be commonplace now, which encourages workers to do some of their jobs in their own time, at home, each evening.

I used to have a push email client on my smartphone, which meant that staff who were working in China or India, for me, and were sending emails when they arrived at work, would gain my attention during the night. Plus I would receive emails from suppliers based in America, so I was on call 24 hours a day, which at times caused frustrations for my family. We were woken during the night by messages arriving in my inbox, so I had to remember to turn off the mobile phone each evening.

There were many Online Jobs which I could not get done at work, because of interruptions from employees, so would spend evenings catching up on these tasks. I found it very difficult to forget about work. Because my family advised me, constantly, how much work I was doing at home, I made a concerted effort to leave my laptop at work two or three evenings each week, to ensure that I would spend quality time with my family, and this worked in everybody’s favour.

After that job ended and I opted to work for myself, I chose to Work From Home, running an Internet Business, which again consists of a lot of Online Jobs. Because, from previous experience I know I will work long hours if I do not keep an eye on myself, I determine that at certain times I turn off my laptop, forget about my Internet Business, and concentrate on my family. We may go for a walk, we may just sit and watch telly together, or we may do something special, but that time is precious and is not disrupted by work. If my phone rings, I ignore it and I do not worry about who may need me. If I do not answer and they have a specific reason to call, they will leave a message which I will collect once I am working again.

I feel it is very important to give family full attention when you are with them, as you give work full attention when you are there. Your family should be much more important to you than anything else, so why would you let them suffer by giving them less than 100% of your attention?

Try and put yourself in the position of your family. What would you want to see happen differently? How many hours would you want to spend with the whole family, enjoying each other’s company? What would you want to do at that time? Once you have answers to these questions, you will see how you can improve family life for you and your family. Carry out the changes and you will then have the perfect work/life balance and will find you can cope with both much better.

You conduct business on your website. But, where can customers and visitors go to learn more about you and get to see you with your hair down, so to speak? Start a blog as a companion to your main website development and another way to build more traffic too.

Blogging is online journalism. People start blogs everyday on a number of topics. You can talk about any number of topics and receive responses from visitors and readers.

As a business tool, use your blog as a place where customers (and potential ones) can go to get away from the more formal website where you sell your products or services. This will allow you to educate them about you and your operation. A business blog is a fantastic way to get people talking about your business and the person behind it.

It’s not as hard as you might think to get started. Many blogging platforms offer free web hosting. Two popular blog hosting sites are WordPress and Blogger. Customising your blog to your needs is not a chore when you have ready-made templates to help you. Each site offers step-by-step instructions to help you get up-and-running in no time. If setting up a blog seems at all complicated, just contact a virtual assistant to set everything up for you.

As your blog would be an extension of your website, the domain name should be as well. Remember to keep it easy to access for anyone. By knowing your website name, they should be able to find your blog too. Create two-way links between your blog and your website’s main page.

You want to use your blog to draw traffic to your main site. Your current customers should be able to ask pertinent questions and communicate with others. For people who find you through your blog (versus your business website), they can find out from your customers just how great your products or services are.

Give interesting content. Blog posts should be shorter than regular articles and make it fairly easy for readers to educate themselves. Compose posts that will really interest the readers. For example, if you are into gardening, give tips for growing different types of plants or how to fertilise a garden, for example.

You can even tease them with content. Those interested in learning more can do so by visiting the link you include in the individual post that refers them to a page on your website with more detail. Remember to keep the voice of your blog relaxed and inviting in order to keep past readers coming back and new ones interested in learning more.

Always make sure you’re interacting with your readers, and if it seems too much for you to handle on a daily basis, take on an expert virtual assistant to keep things running smoothly. Check things every day and answer any comments they may leave. This indicates you’re not just there to sell your website or goods. In fact, try your hardest not to sell them anything at all – at least at first. Instead, give them helpful information, interact with them and then post links to your main site as well as other sites. Let them find their way to your site based on your new-found relationship.

In essence, this is the approach to affiliate marketing that Rosalind Gardner, author of “The Super Affiliate Handbook” has taken (though I don’t know if she uses Ad Words at all). Another way is by joining one of the established affiliate marketing companies like Click bank.

They are also written in response to questions which I have been asked as well as address common challenges that people have with affiliate marketing, article marketing, and internet marketing or running an online business in general. For example: Learn exact answers to effective affiliate marketing methods by subscribing here. Almighty so there you have a brief history on me and a primer on affiliate marketing. If you’re marketing your affiliate program through cold calls, first of all, make sure you’re targeting the right market.

An extended amount of time is highly recommended in order to search the details of an appropriate affiliate internet marketing programs for your particular needs; implement the links; and monitor their activity. Always look closely at the affiliate marketing program pre-requisite. Take the time to analyze your affiliate marketing efforts and see if you are on the right track.
You can also do affiliate internet marketing by using your e-mail to send your friends and family to a company’s website. What I love about carrying Google ads in my blogs is that I am busy building traffic to my affiliate marketing programs and at the same time I am getting paid for my affiliate marketing efforts. It has more merchants than any other affiliate marketing company today. Affiliate marketing is all about putting your fate into your own hands.

Don’t get me wrong, I have sold products in the past without knowing what I was selling and have indeed made some sales but this is the wrong way to go about an affiliate marketing business. Which makes them very effective affiliate marketing tools?

Traffic Is The Lifeblood Of Success In Online Affiliate Marketing Program There are so many naïve people who have spent tons of dollars buying internet marketing e-books, programs and videos from so called internet marketing gurus and as if that is not enough, they have been suckered into squandering thousands of dollars attending seminars organized by these so called gurus only to find out that what they are peddling are outdated and archaic internet marketing strategies which don’t work any more. Let’s try to probe into Google Ad Sense, so you would know how it could help you in your affiliate marketing program.

There may be several other factors that contribute to the success of your affiliate marketing site, but a good content tops the list. Affiliate Manager Affiliate marketing is the backbone of the imaging industry, providing a steady stream of new customers. Affiliate marketing gives the product or service the maximum exposure that it could possibly get, as compared to any other traditional advertising technique. So now you know what Affiliate Marketing is, how do you find suitable affiliate programmers for you niche. Achieve the goals of your very own affiliate marketing program.

Online affiliate programs are an important and integral part of ebusiness – online marketing, if you prefer. There are online affiliate programs of every kind, size, budget and description. And more than likely, you too will join an affiliate marketing network or at the very least join an affiliate program or two.

You have to figure there is a marketing affiliate program with a high commission that will be of interest to you. Only, just watch out for the internet sharks! When it comes to Affiliate Programs, You are swiming, as it were, in shark-infested waters!

But first, a question – two actually -When you fill your gas tank do you leave the tank lid open and then put your gas cap in the glove compartment?Hopefully not.Second, do you work for free?Again, hopefully not.Well, the fact of the matter is that if you plan to join an affiliate program, or any program with the intention of making money on the internet, your first step Must Be to set up an affiliate link cloaker to help you protect your commissions. Otherwise you will, in effect, be leaving off your gas cap and you will wind up working for nothing or at the very least, far less than you are entitled. And keep in mind, there are some Very High Commission affiliate programs out there! If you are interested in the info email me.

Bottom line, commissions to which you are entitled will either be subverted (ie. a buyer of the product will see your affiliate link ID and wipe it out) or (make that and/or) a full time thief will hijack your earned commissions and make them his or her own.But never once do they remember it is you who paid for that PPC (Pay per click advertising) that led them thru you to the product!Trust me on this: it happened to me; it can (and if you leave bare affiliate links) so quite likely will happen to you.In my case it was strictly by co-incidence that I was in touch with others in the same program and we began to compare notes and facts, and realized we were systematically being robbed of our commissions.

And Here Is The Lesson For You: I contacted the FBI Internet Fraud Division, the FTC, the processor of the commissions and the webmaster. The FBI said gee, thanks for the info, we will add it to our growing database …The FTC said gee, thanks for the info, we will add it to our growing database, and here is some info on internet theft, and if we get enough complaints about this particular thief, some day we may actually go after him! Thanks again. The processor said Gee, thanks for the info, but what do you want us to do about it.?And the webmaster said … nothing. I never heard back!

THE ULTIMATE LESSON: YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.

Like the referee says to the boxers before Round 1: …Protect Yourself At All Times! The good news is, now you are informed and to be forwarned is to be forearmed. The bad news is that when it comes to affiliate link cloakers, you had better know ahead of time what you are getting into, and how to use the tools needed to get the cloaker going. You need to know about FTP, PHP, creating a webpage from scratch, Domains, URL’s, uploading, hosting services, and webpages … oh yes, WARNING/NOTICE: If you use GoDaddy for your domain you CAN NOT use the Website Tonight feature for creating a cloaking domain.Took me two days to find this out.

I kept trying to upload an FTP program and it never would. I only got Error Messages. Finally, I called directly to the GoDaddy phone customer service and was informed that I needed to create a new domain and use their hosting service method because the ‘Website Tonight’ feature does not upload. This applies to any service – you need full hosting service.

So I bought another domain, used the full hosting service instead of the Website Tonight service, and I was totally inept at creating an uploading website for my cloaker.I kept writing the seller – I could see their PHP file, but I could not get that file to open. They kept sending me emails, etc. offering suggestions, but I never could get it to work.

I got my money back and suggested they modernize their program to provide more than just a ZIP file.Could they not also provide an extractor and a program installer?? Hey, when was the last time you bought a program from any internet marketing company that did not Unzip and Install the program???OK, I went to another cloaking program selling affiliate software. Same deal. They say it is so simple … just do this. Then do that.

Then simply add this … Right. A week later, another wasted week and another request for a refund because I could not get their link cloaker, URL cloaker if you perfer, to work for me. Maybe YOU can get it to install and work poroperly but I could not. I had another program cloaker come with SIX pages (in small type) ofinstructions! Heaven help me.

FINALLY, I got lucky. A webmaster that appreciates the problem of a non-guru who just wants to get those links protected without having to be a master programmer! If you want them to, they will have a programmer set the cloaker up for you and provide you with a websitehosting service that has the needed protocols, etc. Would I like them to set the whole thing up for me? WOULD I!Thank goodness I found you! Heck yes. So for a mere $30 extra I had the cloaking program set up professionally, PLUS I got three months of hosting free.

No more frustrating hours and days messing with this stuff’. Thirty bucks … its a bargain! Not to mention three free month’s of hosting service. Heck of a deal. And there is a video to introduce you to using the cloaking setup. Now, Finally, it really is easy. Literally 45 seconds to one minute! it was easy! Just type in two lines: The affiliate link and the ‘name’ identifier of the product such as ‘Dogfood’ or ‘Candlemaking’ etc.I love it, they did the grunt work, it takes me a minute or less to do the set up!

OK, you read thru a lot to get to the program, but you need to be aware of the pitfalls and dangers of not cloaking and going over your head so to speak, unless you are a master at this stuff. In either case, take it from me, unless you really know what you are doing, ask the professional to set everything up and do it without the frustration and aggravation of going it alone. By the way the set-up option is available after you sign up for the program. For more information feel free to visit: http://www.DontStealFromMe.info

P.S. As a thank you for visiting the review and staying with it (and to see the link protection in action) visit http://CoolInternetProducts.com/presents/EbooksPlus and keep your eye on the website URL and how it stays at this designation. Feel free to take advantage of the Ten Free Ebooks available for your visit. Finally, notice the identifing word ‘EbookPlus’ in the website address; that’s all I had to type on one of the two lines to create my protected affiliate link. Easy!

One of the challenges of email marketing is getting the email actually delivered. There are several ways that email can end up as Spam, and steering clear of these causes will give your email marketing efforts a much greater likelihood of success. How to Prevent Emails from Landing in Spam Folders

First, make sure that any small business marketing email is sent only to people that you already have an established relationship with, or those who have requested to be sent your communication. People you already have a relationship with can be considered personal friends or family, or people you have a business relationship with, such as customers, associates, and similar individuals. If you don’t know the recipient personally, it is best to have people “opt in” to receive your mailings. Having people subscribe to your mailing list is the best way to do this. Mailing outside of these parameters is likely to result in some recipients reporting your emails as Spam.

Second, mailing to a large number of names at once using personal email accounts often triggers a Spam designation. Even if you are mailing legitimately (i.e. people have requested your email), if you are mailing to more than 100 names at a time, it will likely be presumed to be Spam. Using a mailing service that is well known and respected by the internet service providers (ISPs) will help ensure that your mailing is viewed as legitimate when mailed en mass.

Even when you’ve mailed to an opt-in list, and are using a respected mailing service, your well intended email may still end up in a Spam folder instead of an inbox. This often happens due to using certain words or phrases in “subject lines” of emails that are often associated with Spam emails. The subject line is the header that is seen when an email shows up in your email in-box.

Email filters are used by ISPs to check the words in an email’s subject line. A good subject line can encourage people to actually pen an email. A bad one can mean your email gets deleted, or worse, it can cause your email to be categorized as Spam.

Often the more sophisticated service providers use a “point system” that identifies trigger phrases commonly used in Spam emails. Once an email accummulates a certain number of “points,” the email gets filtered out and is never delivered to a customer. In some cases it doesn’t even go into a Spam folder, but it gets completely blocked.Common Phrases Considered “Spam”

Although it’s impossible to identify each word or phrase that can trigger a Spam designation, there are certain words that are almost always likely to cause problems. Examples from this list include the folllowing words:

amazing, big money, call now, cash bonus, credit, click here, collect, compare, discount, double your income, earn $, eliminate debt, 50% off, free, freebie, get rich, information you requested, loans, lose weight, lose inches, million dollars, make money, mlm, multi level marketing, opportunity, promise you, refinance, removes, reverses aging, satisfaction guaranteed, serious cash, stop (or stops), you’re a winner.

There are some additional problem phrases that can trigger some Spam filters, or start adding “Spam points.” The following phrases should be avoided as well:

Act now, all new, all natural, as seen on tv, avoid bankruptcy, buy direct, cash, casino, consolidate debt, credit card debt, don’t delete, easy terms, get paid, guaranteed, great offer, give away, limited time, meet singles, no cost, no fees, offer, one time, pharmacy, pharmaceutical, prescriptions, online marketing, order now, please read, save up to, special promotion, unsecured debt, unsecured credit, vacation, viagra, visit our web site, while supplies last, why pay more, winner, work at home, you’ve been selected. Other Spam Triggers to Avoid

Besides phrases, using quotation marks, dollar signs and exclamation points in subject lines also can trigger Spam filters. So does using all capital letters, which is considered “shouting” in the online world.

You should also never put a toll-free number in the subject line as that can also cause your email to be filtered out by many filters.

Finally, when you start seeing new spam using certain words or subject lines in your own mailbox, simply know that these will start showing up in Spam folders soon. Make note of those words and phrases and know you should avoid them as well.Deliverability Tip

To check your deliverability before you mail, you can purchase Spam check software that will help you verify that your email is free from identified Spam triggers. Another way to check your deliverability ahead of time is send your finished email to yourself and one or two friends that have good email Spam filters. If you do this before sending it out to your entire list, you will be able to see if your email scoots past the Spam filters and actually lands in the inbox. If it does, you can be reasonably sure that your email will get delivered. Now the challenge is to just get it opened!

Listen to the “gurus” and they’d have to believe that they can help you make money tomorrow if only you’ll follow their advice. Of course the truth is generally rather different.

Many methods of making money online work in my experience – bum marketing, article marketing, VRE sites, creating and selling info products, lead generation and more.

What’s strange is that when any new “make money online” concept is revealed, a small number of people will have a raging success with it, while the vast majority of other marketers will make little or no money at all.

But you need to realise that just because you fail to make money with a specific technique, doesn’t necessarily mean the method doesn’t work. All it means is that it hasn’t worked for you. Just like diets – some methods will work for some people for not for others.

There are two reasons for this strange split in the results in my opinion. The first is of course that we are all different. What one person finds fun, another may find a real strain. Guess who is going to put more effort in? You guessed it.

But here’s the other reason – trial and error.

Yep, I hate to say it folks, but while you can certainly increase your odds of success online by learning a business technique that works, and learning the techniques for niche analysis, the fact is that some people will just “get lucky”. They’ll enter the perfect niche by pure luck. But these people are few and far between.

For the rest of us, we need to consider just getting out there and seeing what works. Pick a method – whatever it might be – and then throw out some projects. Watch for the results and see what sticks. When you find a project that looks like a winner, expand on it and then grow it into a sizeable success.

As an example, I’d like to show you two very new niche sites of mine. They were both launched on the same day. They have the same number of posts and roughly the same number of incoming links and operate in highly competitive niches. They’re only a few weeks old but already I can see marked differences in the traffic that they are receiving.

Site number 1 is only receiving 3 or 4 visitors a day. Even though these are highly targeted, this is still a low number. But the other is averaging 20-25 uniques a day which is much healthier.

If I’d only built site number 1, I might be getting fed up by now with not seeing very much in terms of results. I might be thinking that the techniques I had employed didn’t work. But I hedged my bets and when I launched this project I actually launched in 10 different niches. By setting that many “traps” I’m almost guaranteed at least *some* success.

So if you’re struggling to make money online consider this – increase your number of traps. Don’t work on just one site – throw up a load. Don’t write just one article for Ezine Articles, submit a dozen. Don’t aim for just one JV partner – approach hundreds. Do each one properly mind you – I don’t mean to drop your standards – but do *more*.

By doing things that way, you should very quickly start to see which projects look like a success so you can drop the losers and focus on the winners. And you might be surprised by the results that some of your projects actually generate.

That’s one of the biggest secrets nobody seems to mention when it comes to success online.

More and more people are now realizing the profit potential of selling an existing, profitable website. Indeed, I myself managed to sell a website for a 5 figure sum last year so a common question that arises is “where can I sell my website?”. Luckily while doing research to sell my own site I did a considerable amount of research so today I’d like to bring you a list of those resources in the hope that they are of use to you.
