Bill, Stuart, FL asks Matt Cutts

“How can I get Google to index more of my Sitemap URLs”
“-The sitemap.xml file states there are 10 000 urls, but only 1 500 have bess indexed. Aafter numerous crawls it does not appear Google is going to index these additional detail pages. What can I do get Google to index my unique and current detail pages?”

Matt answers that including stuff in a Sitemap file does not guarantee that Google will crawl all of them. Google have never made the guarantee that they will crawl everything in the sitemap file.

If you wanted to have more pages crawled, the best way to do it is to get known as a little more of an authority, to get more reputation, essentially through the process of getting more links – links that are trusted.

Many false facts are taken as truths when the people with a nugget of information (that they found from some source) spread it as fact.Read more on SEO Day 13: Is PageRank Important?…

Some SEO Software is Crap

There is a lot of money in selling software, which means there are a lot of ad dollars flowing into spreading the idea that you need some secret tool to compete in search.

As explained throughout this series, SEO has moved beyond being a mechanical process to being something that is far more social and subjective. While many SEO tools focus on misinforming the user into thinking that there is a secret keyword density ratio to target (or some other such bunk), the truth is you need to build organic links to help make your site compete. No amount of raw analysis and number crunching is going to make good links automatically appear.Read more on SEO Day 10: Your Suite of SEO Tools…
